Welcome to Mackenzie Hotel

The Mackenzie Hotel in Inuvik, NT, is a standout choice for travelers seeking comfort and hospitality in Canada's northern frontier. With an impressive rating of 4.1 stars, the hotel has proven to be a reliable option for both business and leisure guests.

Located at 185 MacKenzie Rd, the hotel benefits from its proximity to local attractions such as the charming Our Lady of Victory church and the serene Happy Valley Territorial Park. Directly accessible via Route 8, the hotel's central location allows guests to experience the unique culture and breathtaking wilderness that Inuvik has to offer.

Guest reviews consistently highlight the hotel's wonderful staff as a key attraction. Ryan Land noted that the team at Mackenzie Hotel went above and beyond to elevate his visit. This sentiment echoes throughout reviews, with patrons appreciating the spacious, clean rooms and well-maintained facilities. Dale King particularly praised the atmosphere created by the staff, adding that it’s certainly "the place to stay in Inuvik."

However, there are some drawbacks to consider. The hotel lacks blackout curtains, which can be a disadvantage during the long summer days. Additionally, guests have reported challenges regarding the central air conditioning, which may not cater to individual preferences. Furthermore, while the hotel's restaurant offers great dining options, it has faced occasional closures, limiting food availability and leaving guests to seek alternatives.

Despite these minor inconveniences, many agree that the Mackenzie Hotel remains a premier choice in the region. As noted by Noel Talaver, it provides the best accommodation options in Inuvik, making it a worthy consideration for anyone traveling to this remarkable destination.

In summary, the Mackenzie Hotel promises a warm welcome, outstanding service, and a solidly comfortable stay. Whether exploring the great outdoors or relaxing in the hotel, guests will find the accommodations suitable for all their needs.

Very nice hotel. Wonderful staff. Only down side was lack of black out curtains during the summer. Definitely the place the stay in Inuvik. When the restaurant is open, a great choice for a meal.

Best Hotel Option in Inuvik: A Solid 4-Star Stay I rated this hotel four stars, considering the amenities and services available in Inuvik. For the area, it’s easily the best accommodation you’ll find. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. However, one drawback is that the air conditioning is centrally controlled by the hotel. This can be inconvenient, especially if you prefer cooler temperatures in the summer or extra warmth in the winter. The location is a big plus—it’s conveniently close to a grocery store and several shops, making it easy to grab anything you need. The on-site restaurant has irregular hours, so it’s a good idea to check their schedule ahead of time. Personally, I often opt for the grocery store across the street, where you’ll find quick meal options like KFC and Pizza Hut counters. Overall, this hotel is a reliable choice for a comfortable stay in Inuvik.

Before you arrive in Inuvik for the first time you are not entirely sure what you will get, so it's understandable that you might temper your expectations. But like every aspect of our short trip to Inuvik--the people, the culture, the community, the opportunities for adventure, the spectacular wilderness--the Mackenzie Hotel exceeded our expectations. The restaurant, cleaning and reception staff were all helpful and friendly and the pride in the hotel showed as it was well-maintained and very tidy. The lobby makes for a grand entry into Inuvialuit art and culture with a small but impressive collection of original sculptures, paintings, photographs, and other pieces. Despite it being a challenging moment of transition in the shipping and supplies season, every meal we had was fresh and delicious, and the service was excellent. The hotel is ideally located in the vibrant, beating heart of Inuvik, within easy walking distance of most community sights, services, and attractions.

Second time here. I tend to go easy on northern hotels knowing the limitations this far north. The good: Nice hotel, nice staff. Nice room, great water pressure in the shower. The not so good: No breakfast at all, not even one you can pay for. Restaurant was closed and told it would be closed the next day too. Food is limited unless you go to the grocery store the day before, which i ended up doing. All in all it’s a solid 4/5. Wouldn’t stay anywhere in Inuvik thats for sure. I’d give a five star had there been maybe some sort of continental breakfast like cereal or toast or anything of the sort given their restaurant was shut down.
